Consumer Reports revealed health risk from a toxic chemical Bisphenol A (BPA) that many leading brands of canned foods contain.
The health risks include reproductive abnormalities, neurological effects, heightened risk of breast and prostate cancers, diabetes, heart disease and other serious health problems.
BPA is used in the lining of cans and the toxin leaches from the lining into the food. According to Consumer Reports just a couple of servings of canned food can exceed scientific limits on daily exposure for children.
Sensitive groups such as kids and pregnant women should limit canned food consumption. Beverages appear to contain less BPA residues, while canned pasta and soups contain the highest levels.
Rinsing canned fruit or vegetables with water prior to heating and serving could lessen BPA ingestion. And, continue reading »

The sexual benefits of pumpkin seeds are actually pretty well known across most of Europe and China but for some reason they haven’t captured quite as much main stream attention to the rest of the world.
It is believed that a component in the seed helps stop the over-production of prostate cells and with it the enlargement process (BPH benign prostatic hyperplasia).
This relationship is not fully understood at the moment, but the carotenoids and omega 3 fatty acids found in pumpkin seeds are believed to be among some of the active compounds required for good prostate health.
Pumpkin seeds help to promote overall prostate health and alleviate the difficult urination associated with an enlarged prostate. And, continue reading »

The beautiful leaves of the kale plant provide more nutritional value for fewer calories than almost any other food around.
Kale puts a good serving of nutrition on the dinner plate. A half cup serving contains only 22 calories, but provides a day’s supply of vitamins A and C, and about as much calcium as a half-cup of milk.
