Natural Cures With Neem For Your Teeth And Skin Health
Since olden days people used neem to combat diseases. Neem tree was considered as a medicinal one and was given the prime position because of its ability to treat a wide spectrum of diseases.
All parts of the neem tree have medicinal value. The root, bark, twigs, leaf, flower, seed and fruit are all used in treating various ailments.
More than 135 compounds have been isolated from different parts of neem and several reviews have also been published on the chemistry and structural diversity of these compounds.
Perhaps, its most common use in India is in dental applications. And,
There it is sometimes called “the toothbrush tree,” because it is common for people to pull a twig off of the neem tree, chew the end to form “bristles” and use the twig as a highly effective toothbrush. In the west, neem is added to toothpaste.
In a German study of 70 patients with gums inflammation of varying stages, after just 5 to 10 treatments with a neem-based toothpaste and mouthwash there was significant improvement.
Bleeding gums had healed and the secretion from pockets around the teeth had stopped. The bluish colored gums returned to a healthy pale pink color.
One person even reported a reversal of the loss of gum tissue by chewing fresh neem leaves. Scientists believe that antibacterial compounds and neem’s ability to improve the immune response in the gums and tissues of the mouth account for these results.
Neem’s pain-relieving compounds will reduce the discomfort of a toothache. The anti-inflammatory compounds will reduce the pressure on nerves that can cause the toothache.
Brushing with neem toothpaste after every meal and using a mouthwash with neem extract is recommended treatment for preventing and correcting gingivitis.
Neem extracts have helped millions of people in south Asia to avoid cavities despite a very limited access to modern dental care.
Regular brushing with neem toothpaste and rinsing with neem mouthwash destroys cavity-causing bacteria, enhances mouth immunity, prevents tartar/plaque build up and subsequently freshens breath.
A mouth wash, using Neem oil, has been used for the treatment of mouth ulcers and is considered good home treatment for mouth related problems.
For thousands of years Ayurvedic medicine has used neem for skin care and to treat skin disorders.
Neem skin care products have many benefits:
- they relieve redness and itching of irritated skin,
- they can lighten scars and pigmentation,
- they soothe and moisturize dry and cracked skin,
- and if the skin problem is due to some infection, fungus or parasite, neem deals with that as well.
The most convenient way to use neem oil on your skin is to simply buy a good neem soap, neem lotion or neem cream.

- Neem is a mild treatment that does not upset your skin further.
- Neem does not only kill the acne causing bacteria, it also soothes redness and inflammation.
